    Pumpkin All the Things!

After a summer of hot California weather I am so ready for fall. The past couple nights I’ve slept so good because the weather was cool enough that I wasn’t burning up the whole night. Plus there’s that whole Pumpkin Spice thing going on. I am close to getting another free drink at Starbucks (thanks to all those stars I get) and I plan on PSL-ing it up! Or actually I’ll probably get a PSF (Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino), add in a couple extra shots of espresso, maybe add some caramel in there too. I think that might be yummy.  Anyway, I was browsing Pinterest and it was Pumpkin this and…

    Salad!

As you’ll come to learn, I don’t really do recipes. I mean, I look on Pinterest and on other foodie blogs for recipes, but then I basically add in whatever I want to the recipe (and of course take out whatever I don’t like). Like if carrots are involved? Out they go. lol Anyway, here’s a salad that I made myself a week ago. I took some shredded chicken, added some avocado, onion, grape tomatoes, spring mix lettuce, red bell pepper, and peppercinis and mixed it all together. Added some pepper too, mixed it all up and done. I didn’t need to add any dressing either because of the avocado.…

    crepes!

I was up really early this morning, 6am, and of course my stomach was screaming “feed me!”. So I did. I decided that Crepes were the way to go because my mom and I bought a 4 pound container of strawberries at the grocery store yesterday. I looked around on allrecipes.com and foodnetwork.com for a recipe that would work for the ingredients I had and the amount of time I wanted to take and decided on this recipe. The ingredients below is for a serving of 4, but if you click the link you can adjust the servings to however how many you want to make. * 1/2 cup milk…

    de vinci’s

I was out running errands and didn’t have much at home to make for lunch so I stopped at De Vinci’s. They’re currently running a special where you can get spaghetti or pesto, salad and bread for $4.99. I love their pesto, so I had to get some. There’s tons of garlic in it and I love it that way! The bread is great too. Foccocia! The salad was a regular mix with an oil/vinegar dressing and croutons.

    happy 4th of july!

I made potato salad! I had planned on making it for a bbq we were going to have for father’s day and we went out to dinner instead, but it left me craving potato salad. I did a combiation of two recipes. I used Roseanne Cash’s Potato Salad recipe from smittenkitchen.com and also this recipe from jenyu.net. 3 pounds medium red-skinned potatoes, unpeeled, scrubbed 2 celery stalks, chopped (about 1 cup) 1 small red onion, chopped (about 1 cup) 3 hard-boiled eggs, peeled, chopped 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard 1/2 – 1 cup green onions, minced 1 cup salsa turkey, diced 1-2 tbsp mayonnaise (to taste) 1-2 cups non-fat plain yogurt…

    Cake!

Just like last year I baked and baked and baked for Christmas. I made lemon squares for my dad & step-mom (but don’t have any pictures to share). They were super yummy though. I made a cake for the dinner my mom made for Hanukkah. It was chocolate cake and green vanilla frosting with sprinkles. Then for Christmas with my dad, step-mom and family I made another cake. White cake and vanilla frosting. The writing and decorations are made with candy melts. My candy melt writing needs LOTS of work. lol

    Thai Food. Kinda.

I really had no idea how to cook these other than the normal way of cooking pasta, so I mostly just winged the whole thing. I cooked half the bag of pasta and then started to kinda pan fry it in a little olive oil. I added in about 3 cloves of chopped garlic (I really like garlic!), broccoli, diced red bell pepper, and shrimp (already cooked, peeled and devained, with the tail off). I started off with just the pasta, frying small amounts and then adding it back to the pot so it would stay warm. Some I fried longer than others, adding the garlic here and there, plus…

    Cheesecake Brownies

That’s right, I said Cheesecake Brownies! I used a recipe posted in the bakebakebake community on livejournal. [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:1] I think I started off baking this for the time the box said, then kept going in increments of 5 – 10 minutes depending on how close it was till being done. It was a little hard to tell since if you stick a toothpick into the cheesecake portion it doesn’t come out clean, but just use your best judgement. And yes this is incredibly good and it was gone in a flash. lol

    pasta salad and garlic bread

Pasta, lettuce, turkey, peppercini’s and tomatoes in an oriental mayo dressing. And garlic bread! I can’t remember what type of bread I used. Either potato or country white, I think. I put some butter and garlic powder on one side of the bread then put it butter side down in a skillet. I flipped it over to check that it was toasting the way I liked and sprinkled on some parmesean cheese, then flipped it back over so the cheese melted.
